School Based Traineeships
By taking on School Based Apprentices, employers pass on valuable knowledge, skills and experience to the next generation, helping to build a local skills base and strengthening school, local industry and community links. Meanwhile the student gains a vocational qualification AND credits towards their Year 12 graduation.These apprenticeships/traineeships are undertaken while still at school and are an increasingly popular career option for secondary school students.

What are the benefits for employers?
- Cost neutral or low cost, fully trained members of staffDevelopment of a pool of trained personnel from which to choose your future permanent staff members.
- ‘On the job’ training, delivered in the workplace during work hours and specific to your work practices.
- Government Funding available.
- Additional funding also available for each participant .
- Investment in the development of a new member of staff.
What are the benefits for students?
- Students gain a vocational education qualification whilst completing their Year 12 studies.
- The School Based Apprenticeship may provide students with credit towards VCE or VCAL.
- A minimum of 1 day out of the school week is spent in paid employment.
- Students gain hands on industry experience and a nationally recognised qualification.
- Students are paid for the hours worked and undertake a combination of 10 to 15hrs of employment and training during the normal school week.
- Students gain valuable employment skills and experience.
Employers need to commit to employing a student for between 10 and 15hrs per week averaged over a month with at least one day being during the school week.
It is as simple as that, the training is on-the job, non invasive and will only ADD to your customers experience.
